In 1989, a group of entrepreneurs joined together to create a company dedicated to enabling small- and medium-sized businesses. Under the leadership of Joe Lane, Sr. the company - at the time named Merit Resources, Inc. - grew and developed. Joe Lane's guiding principles of commitment to customers and compassionate customer service formed the identity of Merit Resources.
In 2009, Merit Resources completed its ESAC accreditation, demonstrating that Merit Resources was in the top 4% of PEOs nationally with regard to financial stability and best practices.
In 2013, Merit Resources joined the INS Family of Companies. Joined in a common calling to enable small- and medium-sized businesses, the INS Family of Companies recognized the outstanding growth and customer loyalty of Merit Resources and committed more resources to growing the regional presence of the company.
In 2015, Merit Resources opened its Kansas City office to connect with companies in Missouri and Kansas and enable them to meet their growth expectations.
In 2016, Merit Resources acquired Portico Staffing - a full-service talent acquisition firm. Katie Roth, President of Portico Staffing and 30-year industry veteran, joined the company as the President of the talent acquisition division. Later that same year, the INS Family of Companies completed a rebranding initiative to Aureon. 2016 also marked the completion of a multi-year investment in HRis technology to serve clients.
In 2017, Aureon HR added a third regional office with the acquisition of Denver-based Peliton.
In 2018, Oasis Outsourcing announced the acquisition of the Aureon HR human resources and talent acquisition businesses. Together, those two divisions formed Aureon HR.
As the President of Aureon HR, Melissa provides leadership, directs business strategy, and ensures the overall growth and profitability of the business. Melissa is fiercely committed to client satisfaction and to fostering a culture where employees are empowered to do their best work. Melissa also shares her leadership gifts by serving on boards and committees with several local nonprofits and civic organizations. Since joining Aureon HR in 2007, Melissa also served as the VP, Finance, and as Chief Operations Officer. Prior to her tenure at Aureon HR, Melissa was responsible for financial operations of multiple entrepreneurial organizations. Melissa also has a background in public accounting. Melissa graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Accounting.
Ned Flynn is the Senior Vice President, Business Development, at Aureon HR, where he's led the sales efforts since 2015. As a graduate of Indiana University, Kelley School of Business, with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Ned's unique combination of financial acumen, entrepreneur-ism, and human resources has helped Aureon HR achieve predictable, consistent, and profitable growth.
As the Vice President of Account Management, Charlie is responsible for client experience and overall execution of our partnership. Charlie started with the organization in 2009 as a Client Relationship Manager, then oversaw client experience, communication and retention activities. Prior to coming to Aureon HR, she was the General Manager of a small PEO in Iowa. Charlie attended Illinois Central College in her home town, Peoria, Illinois.
As the Vice President of Operations for Aureon HR, Krista is responsible for defining and leading Aureon HR’s strategy execution for the Benefits, Payroll and Risk Management Centers of Excellence. Her work includes oversight of benefit plan procurement, operational process improvement and quality assurance, corporate underwriting guidelines, workers’ compensation claims management and Client Service Agreement governance.
Krista has 16 years of combined experience in the fields of engineering, law and process outsourcing. Krista joined Aureon HR in 2009 as Risk Manager. Throughout her tenure with Aureon HR, she has been a contributor to operational initiatives related to process improvement, quality assurance and risk governance.
Krista holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Management from Miami University and a Juris Doctor degree from Drake University.
As the Vice President, Business Services for Aureon HR, Andy leads client technology, implementations, and internal business services. In his business services role, he provides oversight for internal human resources, technology infrastructure, and facilities. Andy is the primary owner of strategic planning, acquisition integration, and the project management office.
Andy has 20 years of experience in information technology, human resources, employee communication and business strategy in the financial services and retail industries. He joined Aureon HR in 2017 as Director, Strategy & Innovation, and was promoted to Vice President, Benefits in January 2018, and Vice President, Business Services in August 2018.
Andy is originally from Knoxville, Iowa and has a degree in computer programming.
Anne Barry, SHRM-SCP is Vice President, Strategic HR at Aureon HR, overseeing the organizations’ HR operations. Anne possesses more than 10 years’ of HR and Leadership experience, currently leading a team of HR professionals who work with organizations to align their HR strategy with organizational objectives. She is focused on creating innovative ways to engage employees and help organizations establish a culture that leads to high performance and success. She earned her Master’s degree in Public Administration from Drake University.
